The Latino Public Radio Consortium advocates for the full participation of Latinos in all aspects of public broadcasting. Because of their overwhelming growth in the population in the United States, Latinos represent a potential increase for the public radio audiences. Best Practices
We know that Latino-controlled stations are a great asset to the public radio system and play a vital role in making commercial-free programming available to Latinos. But specifically how do they do and what are the practices that are yielding the best results?
To gather these specifics from the Latino-controlled public radio stations, the Latino Public Radio Consortium is conducting a Best Practices Survey among the 28 stations in the system.
The Topics
Conversations will be held with each station to ascertain what they have done for these many years. Given the changing technology and economic environments, what are Latino stations doing that has given them such a long lease on life. Station’s formats, broadcast languages, audience demographics, programming, outreach, marketing, staffing, training, technology, interstation cooperation, and success stories will all be discussed.
This type of information has not been tathered since the last Latino Radio Summit in 2002 and the universe of stations has grown. The results of the Best Practices Survey will be shared through this website, at industry conferences, e-mail announcements and the press.
The Interviewers
Each of the stations will be personally interviewed by Sandina Robbins and Associates.
