FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn

FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn

FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn

Yet another history-making “first” for both the Latino stations and the NFCB Community Radio Conference was the visit of FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn, an occurrence that also made an impression on her which she noted in her blog. This was the first time that anyone from the FCC had attended these conferences and expressed such support for the work of the Latino, Native and community radio stations. Net neutrality, broadband access, diversity of ownership and program content – these were all concepts endorsed by Commissioner with such enthusiasm there was almost a “kumbaya” moment between broadcasters and the FCC – that alone was worth the price of admission.
